Add Rule to Tour
NOTE: The term “Option” with Capital O and bold font means “Tour Option” in this article.
Overview
Rules alter settings of Option such as pricing and availability.
Example of Rules
- Off/High season prices
- Temporary discount
- Unavailable dates
- Different availability depending on days of the week
Rules can be added in the Inventory section or in the Rules section. In the Inventory section, select the Option you wish to add a rule to on the list in the left hand frame. You will see Option Details.
If you already have existing rules and would like to apply them to the Option, use the “Add Existing Rule to Option” button. It will unfold the screen with a list of existing rules. Select the rule and confirm.
If you wish to create a new rule and apply it to the Option, use “Add a New Rule to Option” button. You will see Add Quick Rule screen.
Add Rule
Rule Name
When you use Quick Rule, you will see “Rule for # (# indicates item SKU)” as a default name. This can be edited inside the text box. To create new rule from Rule section, this field appears as blank.
Rule Triggers
There are 4 triggers as follows;
- This rule is active during a booking date rage
- This rule is active during a current date range
- Trigger this rule with a passenger min and max*
- Trigger this rule with a promotional code
You can set a range of dates that the customer can book, such as a price increase for April, and/or set current dates to create a price drop for all bookings made this week.
Tick the checkbox to unfold calender or field.
You can set rules triggered by booking date, current date, days of week, number of passengers and promo code. All criteria works as “AND” condition. This means, for example, when you set the period of time by booking date, you also can specify days of week during that period.
NOTE: The days of week only works with booking date.

Items in this Rule
You can set how you apply new rule. If you select “I want this rule to affect all of my current and future inventory items”, this rule will be applied to all the Options you currently have as well as the Options that you will add later on.
You can choose certain Options that you want to apply new rule. Click radio button to unfold fields. Select the items you want to apply the new rule to in the Available Inventory Items box. Selected items will be moved to Inventory Items Using This Rule.
There are 5 settings. Click on the setting you wish to change and unfold the fields. Enter the value, then click Add This Rule button to save new rule.
Search Rule
Use search form to find rule. Enter the word and select criteria from drop-down menu. We added Promo Code as criteria on our update, released on November 04, 2009.

Simulate Rules
Now you can simulate rules you have created.
Go to Inventory > Option

Select specific Option from left frame and display Option detail page. Click on Calendar button from top right section of the page to open simulator.
Select month and year using drop-down menu, or click blue triangle arrow to move previous or next month, and then select date you want to adjust availability. Information will be displayed.
If you want to check how promo code affects Option, enter number of passengers in the field and/or select promo code, and then click orange arrow next to [select a promo code] drop-down menu .
In above figure, Group Pricing rule is attached to selected Option. You can see the price has been changed accordingly. The simulator will show the bookings if there is any.
