Creating a Promotional Code
NOTE: The term “Option” with Capital O and bold font means “Tour Option” in this article.
With rules, you can create promotional code which can be used as a coupon or specials on your website. To create a promotional code, click on the Rules icon in Tours section of Home page on back-end, or select Rules from Home tab.
Next, click on the “Create a new rule” button. You will be presented with the following screen:

Enter a name for this promotional code in the Rule Name field. The name will be shown in the list of rules when you apply rule to the Option. If there are same names in the list, you have to see the detail one by one. To avoid such hassle, enter the name which can differentiate from another.
Promotional Code for Specific Target
Do you have customer list or member list, or send newsletter to your customer, and want to send special promotion to them? If so, here’s how you set up the promotional code.
![]()
First, you need to specify the date range for “Booked-for” date. Tick the checkbox to unfold the section to setup “Start” and “End” date. Click calendar to select date.
You can also specify the day(s) of the week if you need.

If you want the promotional code to work on specific day(s) of the week during the booking date range, select the day of the week. Click on days to select. Effective day(s) will have blue background.
This kind of promotional code will work well if you have agents and provide them a special discounts. They can use the code when they make booking on back-end (offline sale/POS), and even work when they are make booking for their customer using front-end (your Rezgo website). Please refer the section of this article for using promotional code with URL.
Promotional Code for the Early Bird
You can create promotional code for the early bird special using current date range.
![]()
Current date range will work on the “Booked-on” date so using this date setting is recommended for the special offer like “Early Bird Special”. Your customer can make booking earlier to get special price. Tick the checkbox to unfold the section to set up “Start” and “End” date. Click calendar to select date.
*Please note that the days of the week only works with booking date range.
Trigger
After setting up the date range, create the code by ticking the “Trigger this rule with a promotional code” checkbox.
![]()
This will unfold the blank field.

You can either enter your own code, or get a random code by clicking on “Get a random code” button.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please create code with only alphanumerical letters with no spaces.
Apply Rule to Option

Now that you have created a code, you can choose which inventory items the promotional code will apply to. For example, you can apply this rule to all your inventory items such as Option or only a selected set of Options. Clicking “I want to choose which inventory items this rule will affect” radio button will unfold the selection of your inventory items and the Options.
Setup Price
![]()
Now you can modify the pricing associated with the code. Adjust the pricing by either using a fixed amount or by using a percentage.

You can change all nine available pricing options if desired.
Once you are satisfied with your selections, click on the Save Changes button to save the rule.
Use Promo Code with URL
If you want to lead your customer to promotional page and let them make booking without entering promo code, create link with /promo/[promo_code].

http://sentiasinsects.rezgo.com/details/981/2-hour-ant-hill-trip/promo/8I1P5R6C1O5L
Add “/promo/xxxxx(your promo code)” to the page URL and put this link on promotional banner or text, or you can put this link on your newsletter.
When your customer clicks this link, the rule will affect the booking automatically. Promo code will be displayed above availability calendar so that the customer knows the promo code is in effect.

Even though you can see this promotional code on every tour page, it only effects on the tour (Option) which you have selected to apply the code.
NOTE: Promo code syntax has changed upon release of new front-end look on January 12, 2011. Although old syntax is still supported, “/tour/promo/[promo_code] is no longer usable. If you have using the link with “/tour” in front of “/promo”, please change the link. We are sorry for any inconveniences and thank you for your understanding.
How to Check the Rule
You can simulate rules after you created the promotional code (or any rules you have created). Please refer “Simulate Rules” section on the article below.
