Terminology

The tourism Industry uses some unique terminology. Here are definitions to terms that are commonly used within the Knowledge base:

Back End – This is the Rezgo Administrative site that allows suppliers to access their inventory, bookings, and manage all of their Rezgo account settings. This is not accessible by the general consumer. In the Rezgo back-end you can access reports, manage inventory, make point of sale bookings and many other functions.

Front End – This is your Rezgo booking page. This is where your site guests will be able to go to your website and make a booking.

Option – Options are specific criteria for a tour. Common options are departure time, departure location, and any other customizable variable for a tour.

Pay-For-Performance – This is a pricing model where you are charged only when you receive bookings. This model gives the Rezgo team incentive to make the easiest and most powerful online booking system.

Point of Sale – AKA P.O.S – This is the back-end booking interface which allows booking staff to enter bookings and accept payments directly into Rezgo through the administration system.  The P.O.S. is designed with a streamlined booking interface which is optimized to speed up the booking process.

QR Code – QR Code stands for Quick Response code and is commonly used to embed a URL or other information that can be scanned and read using a QR Code scanner.  Rezgo uses QR Codes as part of the voucher.  Each voucher code is encoded along with a link that, when scanned, validates the voucher and checks it in or informs the person scanning the barcode that the voucher has already been redeemed.

Referral Codes – Referral Codes are alphanumeric strings that can be attached to the end of a URL and used for tracking purposes.  When a visitor comes to a Rezgo site with a referral code, that code is stored along with the booking and is available in the manifest and booking reports.

Rules – Rules are used to affect availability and/or pricing when certain criteria are met.  An example of a rule might be a promotional code that, when entered, reduces the per person price.

Supplier - This is the tour or activity provider, they own the tour company and manage the inventory themselves.

Tags – Tags are used to group various tours together. A tag is usually a word or two that describes your tour. You can tag your tour with multiple tags and many tours can share many tags.  Tags are also used as meta keywords on the description page helping to improve SEO for your booking site.  Examples of tags include: adventure, boating, kayak, attraction.

Ticket Printing – Rezgo supports the ability to print tickets to point of sale printers.  Because Rezgo is a web-based system it cannot communicate directly with your printer.  When tickets are printed, a printable PDF document is generated that can then be printed to a local or network printer.

Tour Option – See option

Vendor – Tour and Activity resellers using the Rezgo distribution system are called vendors. Vendors look for others inventory to resell through their own website. A vendor can be a concierge at a hotel all the way to an online travel agency, the key is that they are selling other people’s inventory.
