How to use enhanced ecommerce tracking
Welcome to the Rezgo Tracking Guide. Whether you are using the Rezgo WordPress plugin or our white-label booking engine, this documentation will help you capture every dollar of revenue in your marketing reports and capture user interactions throughout the entire e-commerce experience.
If you want your analytics to be better and more accurate (and are willing to take a few extra steps to make that happen), Rezgo’s enhanced ecommerce tracking is for you.
Why do I need this?
Your Rezgo booking window is a secure, self-contained space that loads inside your website. (You may have heard of this kind of embedded window called an iframe.) Booking platforms are built this way on purpose. Keeping the booking and payment process in its own protected space is what keeps your customers’ payment details safe, keeps the booking system stable, and lets Rezgo maintain and improve it all centrally without anyone having to touch your website. This is the industry standard: every major booking platform embeds its checkout the same way, for the same good reasons.
That same protective separation has one long-standing side effect. Standard tracking codes often “lose sight” of a customer once they enter an iframe, leading to:
- Attribution Gaps: You see a purchase, but don’t know if it came from a Google Ad or a Facebook post.
- Missing Data: Your reports show a booking occurred, but the price, tour name, and quantity are missing.
The Solution: Rezgo is the first booking platform to close that gap. We use a “Bridge” system. The booking engine sends signals (Events) to your main website. We’ve worked with digital marketing experts to provide GTM Recipes that catch those signals and send them to your favorite marketing tools instantly.
What is a “GTM Recipe”?
Think of a GTM Recipe as a pre-built tracking kit. Instead of manually creating dozens of Tags, Triggers, and Variables, you simply import our file into your Google Tag Manager.
The Benefits:
- Plug & Play: Setup that usually takes hours is reduced to 10 minutes.
- Data Accuracy: Built by experts to ensure currency, tax, and item details are captured perfectly.
- Maintenance Free: If tracking standards change, you can simply update the recipe.
Which recipes should I use?
Our partners at 1UP Digital Marketing have provided four distinct recipes. You can use one, or all of them together, depending on your marketing mix:
| Recipe Name | Who is it for? | What does it track? |
| The Base Listener | Mandatory for all setups. | Bridges the gap between Rezgo and your website. |
| GA4 Enhanced Ecom | Users of Google Analytics 4. | Full funnel tracking from “View Item” to “Purchase.” |
| Google Ads ROI | Anyone running Paid Search/Display ads. | Tracks conversions with exact booking values and transaction IDs. |
| Meta (Facebook) Pixel | Anyone running FB/Instagram ads. | Optimized for the Meta Pixel and Enhanced Conversions (CAPI-ready). |
| Complete setup | All the above | All the above |
What prerequisites do I need?
To use these recipes, you must have:
- Google Tag Manager (GTM) installed on your website’s parent frame (your own website).
- Administrative access to your GTM container.
- The Recipe Files (.json), which you will find in the following chapters.
Let’s get started.
How do I transition to enhanced tracking?
Moving to enhanced tracking is a three-step process. Follow these steps to improve your analytics and better understand your data:
Step One: Implement the Base Listener (mandatory for all setups)
Step Two: Add at least one tracking recipe:
- GA4 Enhanced Ecommerce
- Google Ads Ecommerce Conversions
- Meta Pixel Ecommerce Events (Facebook/Instagram Ads)
Step Three: Switch tracking methods in Rezgo
Once you’ve completed these steps, you’ll start getting more accurate data. What you do with that data is up to you. You could prioritize your high-converting inventory, budget your ad spend more effectively, create campaigns that drive more revenue–it all starts with accurate data.
